Model Highlights

The Nissan Titan is comparable in size and capability to pickup trucks from the Chevy, Dodge, and Ford for 2007, and it has what some buyers might find appealing: a streamlined model lineup. All Titans have a powerful 5.6L V8 engine with 317 horsepower and 385 ft-lbs of torque; a flex-fuel version is also available at no additional charge, allowing it to run on E85, which is 85 percent renewable ethanol. A five-speed automatic is the only transmission offered. The transmission comes with special tow/haul modes and heavy-duty Dana axles good for towing or off-roading; and the Titan can tow up to 9,500 pounds when properly equipped. All Titan models are available with either rear-wheel drive or a four-wheel-drive system, which has shift-on-the-fly capability, a low range, and an electronically controlled part-time 4WD mode. There's also a switch-on-demand, electronically controlled locking rear differential with the system. An available Off-Road package includes larger alloy wheels and tires, plus additional skid plates. Rancho performance shocks are also available. Four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock are standard on all Titans. Front-seat active head restraints are standard on all models as well, and front side-impact and side-curtain air bags are optional across the line. The Titan is available in only two body configurations: King Cab and Crew Cab. The King Cab has smaller rear doors that swing wide to 168 degrees for easier access, while the Crew Cab has four full-size doors. The cargo bed measures 6'7" for King Cabs, 5'7" for Crew Cabs. Crew Cab models get a standard power rear window with defroster. Nissan claims that the Crew Cab model has the most interior space and legroom in its class. Both have flip-up rear cushions for expanded cargo space in the back of the cabin. Standout features on the Titan include a factory-applied spray-on bedliner; a Utili-Track tie-down system for the bed, with adjustable tie-down cleats to prevent small but heavy cargo from moving around in the bed; and a lockable, insulated exterior storage compartment beside the driver's side rear wheel well. The base XE model comes much better equipped than other base-level full-size pickups, with air conditioning, cruise control, pre-wiring for towing, and a six-speaker CD sound system standard. The mid-range SE adds large off-road duty tires, power heated mirrors, leather trim inside, keyless entry, and power windows and locks. The top LE model includes the Utili-Track system, fog lamps, a double-wall cargo bed, the exterior lockbox, and a Rockford Fosgate audio system. Top options on the Crew Cab include a DVD Mobile Theater System with seven-inch fold-down monitor, and a 350-watt, ten-speaker Rockford Fosgate sound system. Rear parking sensors are also available.
